A condition in which the micro-organism gives a negative effect to the host organism or part of it; that is not due to any immediate external injury. It can be caused by external factors like pathogens or by internal dysfunctions. For instance, immunodeficiency, hypersensitivity, allergies and autoimmune disorders can be caused by the internal immune system dysfunction.

Causes Of Diseases:

Micro-organisms can cause disease and these micro-organisms are known as “pathogens”. They include bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi. A disease can be caused by the transmission of these pathogens into the human body. It can be caused by any of these following types:

  • Airborne pathogens
  • Foodborne pathogens
  • Infectious pathogens
  • Lifestyle pathogens
  • Non-communicable pathogens

Prevention Of Diseases:

It can be prevented by taking these simple health measures:

  • Proper handwashing/sanitization
  • Proper nutrition intake
  • Adequate exercise
  • Self-care and vaccinations
